An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a particular site. Every single file that was requested for some reason will be listed, so if you have a single webpage with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for any of the six files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log typically offers the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you can also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your site. The info that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a site, in addition to the web statistics that your server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. As soon as you sign in to your shared hosting account and navigate to this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You will still have the ability to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.
